ARTIST STATEMENT

The form and symbolism of my paintings engage deeply with the legacy of the old masters and surrealists. The pieces reflect upon societal realities through the lens of absurdity, juxtaposing fragments from popular culture, literature, and history. My work is not bound by linear narratives: rather, it communicates its content through the medium of the imaginative realm that exists between dreams and waking reality–between the abyss of despair and the heights of hope. In treading the obscure, multifarious roads of human consciousness and epistemology, the artwork strives to put forth socio-political metaphors that break beyond the lucid immediacy of the public square to harness the shadowy yet incisive power of psychological introspection.
