Lily & Honglei is an Asian immigrant artist collaborative whose art practice integrates traditional art mediums, including painting and East Asian folk arts, with new media such as video art, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR). Often inspired by East Asian cultural heritages, their work focuses on the immigrant experience and Chinese American identity.

Lily & Honglei have presented at the Museum of Art and Design in New York, Queens Museum, Institute of Contemporary Art Boston, the Whitney Museum of American Art, 601 Artspace NYC, The Painting Center of New York, Eyebeam Art Technology Center, Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning, Asian American Art Alliance in New York, Dumbo Art Festival, Boston Cyberart Festival, Zero1 Biennial of New Media Art in San Jose CA, Center for Advanced Visual Studies at MIT, University Gallery at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Stanford University, City College of New York, Musée Guimet in Paris, Museum of Ara Pacis in Rome, Museum of San Salvatore in Lauro in Rome, He Xiangning Art Museum in Shenzhen, Shanghai University Gallery, SIGGRAPH Art Gallery and SIGGRAPH Asia, among others. The NYC Department of Parks & Recreation has showcased Lily & Honglei’s public art projects at multiple public parks in New York City.

Lily & Honglei received awards and grants, including the Creative Capital Award for Moving Image & Visual Arts, New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, New York State Council on the Arts Individual Artist Grants, Queens Council on the Arts New Work Grants, Flushing Town Hall Artist in Queens Grant, The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation Individual Support Grant, Jerome Foundation regrant via Turbulence.org, and the People’s Choice Award at the Museum of Art & Design in New York. More Art, Korea Art Forum, and Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning commissioned Lily & Honglei to create public art projects in New York City. Many art historians, including Margaret Hillenbrand and Angela Becher, discussed their art practice extensively.
